Mrs. Lea Borenstein

Mrs. Borenstein is TABC's Director of Student Support Services. She specializes in working with students who experience anxiety around writing, or who find getting started and/or expanding their ideas with details challenging. She has worked in writers' workshops at the elementary school level, as a middle school humanities teacher, as a college-level writing instructor, and as a private consultant in developing writing skills. Mrs. Borenstein's teaching philosophy is based on a multimodal approach that is tailored to students' individual needs and interests, and she plans to bring her understanding of motivation, cognition, and emotion to each student in her classes. She is also currently a Ph.D. candidate working on her dissertation at SUNY Stony Brook, a task that helps her to share the victories and pitfalls of the writing process with her students.
